The Old Fashioned is the most searched cocktail in America. It's also one of the easiest to get wrong.
Not the drink itself — that part is simple. Bourbon or rye, a sugar cube, a few dashes of bitters, one large ice cube. What most people get wrong is the cherry.
The standard maraschino — neon red, soaked in corn syrup, artificial in every sense — has no business in a drink this considered. The Old Fashioned is built on restraint and quality. The garnish should be too.
Oregon Fruit Co. Cocktail Cherries are whole dark sweet cherries grown in the Pacific Northwest, packed in their own thick cherry juice with a touch of Jacobsen Sea Salt from the Oregon coast. Rich, snappy, fruit-forward. No artificial color, no artificial flavor. A garnish that earns its place at the bottom of the glass — and tastes even better when you get there.
This is the Old Fashioned done right. Pour carefully, stir slowly, and don't skip the cherry.
